I'm a retired educator (teacher/principal) who moved from Northern California to Payson, Arizona in September, 2010.
This blog will chronicle my adventures as I explore a different ecosystem and build my new home.

A New Project

We're starting on a new project......disconnecting ourselves from the Payson City Water system and hooking up to the well that we drilled a month ago. This is a photo of the well cap. We brought in crushed granite to level the area.

In order to do this we need to build a well house which will double as a garden shed. Our plumber and electrician are coming back in order to install electricity and water lines from the new pump house to our home. The flat dirt area to the left of the well cap is where the slab will be poured for the pump house.

We are also going to place a 1500 gallon water storage tank next to the pump house/garden shed. We are investigating solar pumps vs. electric pumps.

Cooper is on coyote-watch. Cooper and I watched a male and female coyote from our deck yesterday. They were 100 yards from our house and were playing with one another. They are beautiful animals but we are really having a problem with them. A friend's dog was bitten two days ago. The coyotes follow him when he walks his four dogs. When one of his dogs lagged behind, she was bitten.
P.S. Notice how Cooper sits......like a frog.
