Rock and Roll and Lines for Footings

This is the bank by the side of the future garage. We needed to prevent erosion so.......

we brought in some rock. Mike dumped it and we placed it against the bank.

We then hosed off the dust. Pretty nice looking don't ya think? We are also going to do it on the bottom floor near the two guest bedrooms. It is definitely easier to do this now without a house in the way.

Randy was "hired" to read the plans and paint the lines for the trenches and footings. This is called "layout." He had never done anything like this before but he got the hang of it and Mike trusted his measurements.

The plans were confusing.....the dimensions were incremental and you had to add feet and inches and then use a tape measure, string and level to map it on the ground.

We haven't figured out where the piers go yet (they provide additional support for the house).......a job for tomorrow morning.
