I'm a retired educator (teacher/principal) who moved from Northern California to Payson, Arizona in September, 2010.
This blog will chronicle my adventures as I explore a different ecosystem and build my new home.

Finished, Almost Finished, and New Projects

The master bath floor is cemented and will be grouted tomorrow.

We just ordered a clear glass door for the shower and mirrors for over the vanities.

The fireplace is done! The cabinet next to it will house the TV and sound system. Note the lazy dog at the bottom of the photo.....covered in sheetrock and tile dust.

Matt started working on the west facing deck. The wood is a Brazilian hardwood that can be oiled or allowed to weather (turns grey like redwood). It is really strong! (We gave up on the concrete tiles....too much money to have them shipped.)
He is using a Dreg Deck Jig to invisibly fasten the deck boards to the joists.

Randy helped with the project.....lots of screwing.
Matt and his dad, Mark, are now working on the little greenhouse behind the garage......giving their knees a break from the deck work.
